Communication with the School
For many of our students, coming to Ambassador Preparatory represents the beginning of a new life that will profoundly impact their personal lives and futures. Studying far from home can be isolating not only for the child, but for parents as well. Adjusting to new cultural practices, often opposite of their home cultures, presents challenges to a young scholar as they strive to achieve their goals. While our faculty and staff support and nurture our students, nothing can replace the bond between parents and their children.
To assist with this difficult transition, the school has set up clear lines of communication that allow parents to not only keep in touch with their child, but to monitor their academic, cultural and financial status while enrolled at the school.
Academic Progress
Faculty Advisors-
Each student is assigned a faculty advisor who meets with students on a daily basis. This time allows our faculty member to discuss both the students’ progress and areas where improvement may be needed. If needed, the school will organize tutors to further assist the student adjust to course expectations. This time also allows our students the time to connect with their advisor and share their thoughts and feelings in a supportive, small group environment.
Online Grade Reports-
Upon enrolling at the school, each student’s grades and progress will be posted to our grading website- allowing parents to log in anytime to review class assignments, test scores and GPA. Families are encouraged to contact their child’s faculty advisor at any time to discuss or review progress and expectations.
Regular email updates and mailings-
Faculty advisors send regular updates via email to parents and families. Since many parents to not speak English as their first language, the school will mail hardcopies of school reports to each family for their records.
Staying in touch with your child
Phones-
Both the boys and girls dormitories have phones the students can receive calls on. The school assists the child in obtaining phone cards or international cell phones upon the parent’s request. During orientation, each child receives instructions on how to use the school phone system to contact their families. We kindly request that no phone calls be made to the student dormitories between the hours of 10:30 PM CST and 6:30 AM CST- the students need their rest to be prepared for another full day at the school.
Email-
Most students bring laptop computers with them upon enrollment to the school. Our computer technician will assist in setting up an account on our network to allow students to email their families. Internet access at the school is monitored and restricts access to material unsuitable for young learners.
Visit-
At Ambassador Preparatory, we encourage families to visit our campus when possible. Please contact the school in advance to arrange dates where you can not only meet the faculty and staff, but also reconnect with your child as they pursue their future goals.
Staying in touch with the school-
While your child is enrolled at the school, you will be in touch with several departments. Parents receive introductory letters from faculty advisors, our Principal, the Head of School and Finance Director. Our commitment to each student while enrolled at the school and in their futures is our most important consideration. Ambassador Preparatory families are vital to building our school community throughout the school year and beyond.
