Grade 6 - Social Studies

Introduces students to geography, world civilization and American History. All three areas highlight the development of the human condition over time in light of cultural, geographic, climactic, political, economic and social developments of their times and its impact on the world today. Special attention is focuses on US involvement and actions contributing and influencing modern history.

Grade 7 - Geography

This course helps to develop basic skills in geography Including map reading, map making, interpretation of geographic charts and diagrams acquisition of some technical vocabulary, and collection and analysis of factual information with an eye toward problem-solving. Interrelationships of geographic, economic, and political factors in today's world prepare students for future readings in history, politics and economics. A deeper appreciation of the global Interconnectedness of all people is emphasized

Grade 8 - World History

World History from the dawn of the Stone Age to the beginning of modern times. Although special emphasis is given to an appreciation of how our civilization today has built upon the political, cultural, moral and scientific contributions of the past, the course is designed to make students aware of the parallel achievements of non-European civilizations of each era, especially in China, India, and the Islamic world

Grade 9 - U.S. History

A chronological U.S. History course covering the post Reconstruction Period to the present. Special emphasis is given to an appreciation of how the issues of the past continue to shape the political, economic and social problems we face today. The 9th grade U.S. This class gives students the reading, writing and communication skills t h at will prepare them for college prep and AP courses in high school.
